Florença – Pisa – Cinque Terre: parte 1

Oi, gente!

Hey, guys! I’m going to divide the post today, so its not a huge thing that no one has patience to read haha. In this part, you will find details about the trip that I made with my friends to Florence!

So, I went to some cities in Italy with Viki (Germany), Shadin (Sudan), Alifa and Sammy (Indonasia), Nour and Nada (Egypt) and Alvaro (Brazil), my interchange-friends. The first city was Florence. On the day of the trip, I woke up at 4am to pack (disorganization says hello hahah but I really don’t like packing, so I usually leave it for the last minute) and take a shower. After everything was ready, I left my house. I was wearing jeans and a very thin sweater, and when I went out of my room, I realized that it was 5 degrees out there hahahaha. As I was running to get to the train on time, I didn’t even notice the cold that much, so it was fine.

The trip was already nice in the train. As always, me and my friends talked a loooot (I think it’s so nice that all of us have so many things in common even though we come from so different cultures), played a game that Nour had brought, talked, made photos, videos… Killed time in every way possible.

When we arrived in Firenze, the first thing we did was: ask for information on the street hahaha we didn’t know even the direction to the center. After that, we went to a church – Basilica di Santa Croce -, but first, stopped in one of those street-markets because Viki wanted to buy a scarf, and the woman who worked there was from my city in Brazil! I talked a lot with her, it was really nice. Then, we saw the church, which was really beautiful, and stayed a little it in the Piazza in front of it. After that, we continued on our way to the center – and I found what I suppose that is a statue of the God of Law! I was super happy taking pictures with it.

We walked around the city until we arrived in a restaurant that Viki wanted to eat. The place was really charming, but also very expensive, so we decided to go on a “neighbor” restaurant. Both places were in Piazza della Signoria, and it was so nice to have lunch with that view! This Piazza is considered to be the most important one of Florence, and many historic events happened in there (like the execution of Girolamo Savonarola, in 1498 – yep, there’s a sign in there indicating the place haha), and it’s also the place where Palazzo Vecchio is – this building used to be the home of the dukes, and today it’s the city hall, and it also has a museum, where there are masterpieces of many important artists, Michelangelo among them.

After lunch, Alvaro and I wanted to see the Galleria dell’Academia museum (where there’s David) but the others voted against it, so we just stayed in the Piazza, which is kind of a museum itself, so it was really nice anyway, and then saw a little bit of the Palazzo.

After we saw every part of the Piazza, we went to Loggia del Porcellino, which is basically a market/fair that sells clothes, purses, shoes, etc.

After that, we went to the Duomo. We didn’t really know the way, which was actually good, because we got to see more of the center of this incredible city. Besides that, on the way, we went to a commercial street… Everyone stopped to do some shopping and eat ice cream (by the way, for those who want to go there: ask the price of the foods before ordering it. A guy saw that Nour was a foreigner, so he charged her TEN euros for one ice-cream! In Pavia, I pay 2 and think it’s expensive haha).

After all the shopping, we arrived in the Duomo. Viki and I were super tired, so as soon as we entered, we just sat in a bench and started talking. After a while, Nada came and told us to go take pictures because we wouldn’t have anything to record our trip there together and the Duomo etc etc (it was so like my mom and so cute hahha) and in the end this was really good, because now I love to waste time looking at the pictures and remembering my sweet friends that aren’t near me anymore #drama.

After that, we just stayed in the Piazza Duomo (which I don’t know if it’s called like that, but as it’s like this in every city in Italy, I just assumed that in Florence they also gave the Piazza this very creative name), and there were some people doing an Indian dance. It was really nice, we stayed there to watch it and, when it was over, I and Alvaro found a Brazilian flag in one of those street shops! We had a lot of fun taking pictures with it hahaha.

After all of us had bought souvenirs, we went to Ponte Vecchio, which was so beautiful. As we were really tired, we just stayed in there for a while, talking and resting. After spending some time in there, we went to catch the train (and on the way, we met the woman from Maringá again) and go to Pisa – we still had to find a hotel in there hahaha yep, we were in 8 and didn’t make any reservations expecting to find something there, but that’s a story for another post, that will come this week, hopefully.

Beijinhos,

Gabi.

So, thats it! I don’t remember every detail because the trip was some time ago, but if you have any doubts or want some tips to go there, tell me and I’ll try to help!

Kisses,

Gabi.

É oficial: me apaixonei pela Itália.

Oi, gente!

Hey, guys! About the title of the post "it's official: I'm in love with Italy": I've been fighting against my love for this country ever since I first put my feet on it, but, well, I lost it hahha. I love the country, the culture, the people, the architecture and the moments of "OMG, this place is so desorganized" are getting less and less every day.

This week started with great news: classes are over! The problem is that of course, I'm not on vacation: I have a montain of tests just waiting for me haha. But, let's go to the nice week news:

Segunda, 19/05:

On Monday, I studied all day long and, at night, went out with Kleo and Emi. We went to a pub to have Aperitivo, and Kleo invited me and Emi to go with her to Greece on the summer! We are very excited about it, later I'll write in here how it goes.

Ah, quase esqueci: no almoço, a Mari me ensinou a fazer arroz hahahah almoço do dia: arroz e feijão! UHUL! Hahhaah

On Tuesday, I studied all day long. In the end of the afternoon, AIESEC meeting, which was really nice. At night, I had dinner with Mari and Iole, and we talked for a looong time. Ah, almost forgot it: at lunch, Mari taught me how to cook rice! So I ate a very brazilian dish for lunch: rice and beans! I was going to put a picture of my lunch, but then I thought it would be unnecessary to have a beans photo on the blog hahahah

Quarta, 21/05:

On Wednesday, I woke up and went to an  AIESEC event, that was a photo exhibition of some of the interchanges realized and of the trainees that we received here in january. Guess what: I was in 90% of the pictures! Looking at them, it just made me realize how much I miss my friends ): after looking at the pictures, I stayed there with Joel, Valentina, Mattia and Martina to explain to people things about AIESEC.

O mural com as opções culturais do mês - The board where they put the cultural options of the month

In the afternoon, I went after my visa problem, that finally seems to be right haha. I was a little bit stressed with the bureocracy, disorganization, etc etc, but enough of saying this here because I don't want to make the blog my particular Wailing Wall.

After that, I came back home, had dinner with Mari - and everyday I'm more thankgul for moving here with she and Iole, they are so sweet! - and then I went to the center, to meet Paolo, my friend from the old house, to have dinner with him and his hometown friends. It was really nice - they have an association that basically helps people from other cities that come to Pavia to study, and I really liked it because it is hard to find friends, and even to find yourselg in the university if you're from another city. We stayed there for a couple of hours and then I came home because I had some aiesec things to do.

After I finished, I went back to the center, to meet my other friends in one of those concerts. Ah, and I found out why there are so many free concerts at this period: its to promote parties haha. In the beggining, it was of the university elections, and now it's for the European Parliment elections. I just loved this idea, because it's been like 3 weeks that we've had free concerts almost everyday ahha. I stayed in there just for a while and then I came home with Emilia, who was also in there.

Quinta, 22/05:

Fiquei em casa estudando, de novo. Ai, saudades vida sem provas hahahah.

On Thursday, I just studied all day long. I miss my non-exams life sooo much hahaha.

Sexta, 23/05:

On Friday, I studied in the morning, had lunch with Mari and in the afternoon, more studying. After a while, Iole invited me to have coffee with her, so basically my afternoon was divided by spending time with my cute flatmates and studying. At 6, I went to meet Anto to take an ice cream. We stayed there talking and can you believe it that Anto told me not to eat a briche because ~~ I've had enough carbs already ~~ ????????????? You know you're huge when your friends start controlling your carbs hahahaha. In an act of extreme rebelty, I took the brioche and ate it entirely hahaha poor Anto, he was trying to explain himself saying that he said that just because I was going to run after and it might get in the midle of my exercise, but I didnt buy it ahhha (just kidding, Anto!). And yes, I am that kind of person, you know, that buys an ice cream before going to do the exercise of the day hahaha.

Anyway, I went jogging and saw the sunset in the river! It was sooo pretty! And to not miss the habit of putting river pictures in the blog, here comes more of them haha

A eleição do parlamento Europeu é amanhã, então vocês imaginam o clima né hahaha.

After that, I came home, got ready and went to meet Anto and Giulia to go to one of those concerts that were again happening. The election of the European Parliment is tomorrow, so you can imagine how the atmosphere is in here haha Giulia told me that she's kind of afraid because people who are against euro are becoming stronger, but we don't think that they will win... And both Anto and Giulia were complaining about stupid thing that people post on facebook, and it was such a big relief to know that it's not only in my country that donkey uninformed people exist haha.

Anyway, there were two concerts, one in Piazza Vittoria and another one on the three towers (a place near the university), and we stayed a bit in both of them, but the one on the towers was better haha. It was clearly from a party, with the flags and everything (the other concerts were more sutil, I think), and I just loved that - it's so beautiful when people actually know the differences between the parties (that doesn't happen so much in Brazil, many people just vote in what the mass-media wants them to) and go support that by free concerts! Hahahha

Chama Bella Ciao, olhem:

We stayed there until the end of the concert, and they played a couple of songs from the resistance of Facism in WW2 - guess it if I don't know them by heart already? It was so nice, everyone was singing together, it's almost impossible to describe it. The song that I liked the most of those resistance ones is called "Bella Ciao":

After the concert, we went to a pub that I have gone before with Duda and Fabio, but only remembered it on the moment I stepped there ahha. It's really cool in there, they play "Seth Cohen" music (those who were teenagers in 2003 will understand me), and for those who like beer, they make their own and when its not theirs it's from a bigger brand that sells different flavours - yeserday, Anto had a blueberry one...

Beijinhos!

We stayed there for a little bit, and then I came back home! See you on the next post (: xoxo!
